Port Blair, Oct 17: The Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, has demanded setting up of a grievance redressal mechanism for resolving the demands/issues of govt. employees working under the A & N State Administration. Speaking at a meeting of the leaders and active members of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association at Port Blair today the 14th October, 2014, Shri Pijush Roy, Asst. Secretary of the Confederation who is currently on a visit to these islands said that such a mechanism is urgently required as a number of genuine demands of the govt. employees of these islands remain unsettled for several years.
Referring to the 7th Central Pay Commission, Shri Pijush Roy said that the Confederation had already submitted a memorandum to the Pay Commission covering almost all the aspects of the Central Govt. service. Shri Pijush Roy informed that the confederation has demanded Rs. 26000/- should be the minimum pay for the Central Govt. employees. He also informed that the confederation has demanded disbanding the grade pay system. Shri Pijush Roy further said that the Confederation has already demanded the grant of interim relief and merger of DA with pay and the govt. is yet to take any decision on these demands. He called upon the govt. employees working in A & N Islands to continue their struggles and remain part of the Confederation.
Shri HL Prasad, Acting President and Shri D.Ayyappan, General Secretary of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association also spoke on the occasion.
