Officers’ Association led by Shri TS Sreekumar, Assistant General Secretary of the Association yesterday met the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration and brought to his knowledge the denial of the Part B upgraded pay to about 855 teachers and miscellaneous teachers working under the Education Department. The Association delegation brought to the notice of the Chief Secretary that certain categories of teachers and miscellaneous teachers like Headmasters, PSRTs, Physical Education Teachers, Librarian, etc. have been denied of the benefit of upgraded pay under the CCS (Revised Pay) Rules, 2008 while implementing the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission.
The Association informed the Chief Secretary that the above categories of teachers and miscellaneous teachers in other Union Territories like Pondicherry and Govt. of NCT of Delhi and also in central government schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya, etc. have been extended the benefit of upgraded pay under Part B. The Association delegation informed the Chief Secretary that the A & N Administration, instead of extending the upgraded pay to the above categories of teachers, had referred the matter to the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India during 2008 and the said matter is still pending in the MHRD and Ministry of Finance. The Association informed the Chief Secretary that the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission will be submitted to the Govt. of India during 2015 and if this issue is not resolved immediately, the above categories of teachers will perpetually lose the financial benefit.
