Port Blair, Sept 10: A talk on ‘Inculcating Reading Habits in Children’ was held at Navy Children School (NCS), Minnie Bay, Port Blair on 06 Sep 14. The talk was part of an initiative by the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of NCS, Port Blair. All the parents whose wards are studying in NCS were invited to attend the talk.During the course of the talk the Speaker brought out the importance and benefits of inculcating reading habits in the children. The Speaker Emphasised sayings such as ‘Readers are Leaders’ and ‘Great Readers are made on the Laps of their Parents’.
It was brought out that the books are best friends and companions which help the individual in overcoming the various challenges of life. Book readers are on an average more creative and imaginative individuals, and can find creative solutions to life’s challenges.The reason for the decline in the book reading habits and the ways to revive it were dwelt upon during the course of talk. Keeping books at home, making reading a priority by parents themselves and making it as a part of social interaction were brought out to be few points in cultivating the joy and pleasure of reading books.
