Port Blair, Sept 09: A weeklong camp for the home guards posted at various units of North & Middle Andaman district was held at Long Island from 1st to 6th Sept, 2014. A total number of 57 home guards participated in the camp. The camp in-charge was Inspector H.L. Tiwari under the supervision of Shri. Ajay Kumar Rai, SDPO, Rangat.
Several activities were undertaken such as beach cleaning, tree plantation and trekking in addition to regular physical training and drill exercise. Lectures were delivered on various subjects as role of home guards, disaster management, law and order, crowd control, first aid, basic radio communication etc. Officers from different police units and health department under N & M Andaman shared their views.
The training camp concluded on 6th Sept, 2014. Smt. Gita Rani Verma, IPS, SP, Car Nicobar was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. The participants presented a beautiful cultural programme for the general public at Long Island which was lauded by the general public and the PRI members of the Long Island and requested for conducting such more camps in the future for knowledge and awareness of the general public.
