Port Blair, Aug 24: By elections to fill up the vacancies in Panchayati Raj Institutions were held today. The entire polling process was held in a free, fair and peaceful manner. Elections were held for the Gram Panchayat Member Constituency of Digipur-3 of Diglipur Gram Panchayat under Diglipur Tehsil; Gram Panchayat Member Constituency of Urmilapur of Urmilapur Gram Panchayat, Gram Panchayat Member Constituency of Vijaygarh-1 of Sundergarh Gram Panchayat and Gram Panchayat Pradhan Constituency of Sabari Gram Panchayat under Rangat Tehsil; Gram Panchayat Member Constituency of Ograbraj-2 of Mithakhari Gram Panchayat under Ferrargunj Tehsil; Gram Panchayat Member Constituency of Campbell Bay-9 of Campbell Bay Gram Panchayat under Campbell Bay Tehsil and Gram Panchayat Samiti Constituency of Gram Panchayat Vivekanandapur under Little Andaman Tehsil.
The polled materials are kept in the designated Strong Rooms with police security. The Constituency wise polling percentages are for Diglipur-3, Diglipur Gram Panchayat: 49.10 %; Urmilapur, Urmilapur Gram Panchayat: 82.20 %; Vijaygarh-1, Sundergarh Gram Panchayat: 74.60 %; Pradhan, Sabari Gram Panchayat: 61.30 %; Ograbraj-2, Mithakhari Gram Panchayat: 73.60 %; Campbell Bay-9, Campbell Bay Gram Panchayat: 57.02 % and Samiti, Vivekanandapur Gram Panchayat: 69.30 %.
The counting of votes of these constituencies shall be held at designated locations on 25th August, 2014, a communication received here said.
