Port Blair, Mar 29: The A&N State Social Welfare Board, Port Blair organized a Day long Orientation Training Programme for unaided Voluntary Organisations at its Conference Hall on 29.3.2012 at 10.30 a.m. The Training programme aimed at creating resource persons and developing leadership among the Voluntary Organisations so that they can further enhance the level of awareness among the women by conducting camps in their respective areas. Mr. M.A. Salam, Director of Agriculture, A&N Admn. graced the function as Chief Guest and inaugurated the training programme by lighting the traditional oil lamp.
Addressing the women participants, Mr. M.A. Salam appreciated the Chairperson, A&N State Social Welfare Board for organizing such training programme for unaided Voluntary organizations though they are not aided by the Govt. or by the State Board even though, they are undertaking various programmes at their own source.
On arrival of the Chief Guest Smt. Ratna Kannan, Chairperson, A&N State Social Welfare Board, Port Blair welcomed the Chief Guest by presenting bouquets. In her welcome address she said that the unaided N.G.Os. should get the benefit by availing the scheme of the State Board through on line e-AWEDAN. She also explained in detail about the schemes and programmes to the participants. The officials of the State Board dealing with the programmes have explained in detail about the procedures to avail the schemes through on line e-AWEDAN.
In the afternoon session Smt. Sunanda Biswas, Agriculture Assistant explained in detail about the schemes/training available with their Department for the benefit of women. In the interaction session the participants raised various questions regarding submitting applications through on line e-AWEDAN and they were given demonstrations for e-AWEDAN. The participants very much impressed on the demonstration. The participants were also given training on maintenance of accounts.
More than 25 participants from various unaided voluntary organizations attended the training programme.
