Port Blair, Mar 29: One day training on “Mobile based Fertilizer monitoring system” (mFMS) was organized by the Department of Agriculture, Port Blair on 23.03.2012 in association with Ministry of Communication & IT, New Delhi & the training providers of the Madras Fertilizer Limited (MFL), Chennai.
Mr. M.A. Salam, Director of Agriculture welcomed the delegates and Trainees and explained about the “mobile based Fertilizer Monitoring System (mFMS) which will be fruitful in the long run for the farmers of these islands.
The programme was launched by the Chief Guest of the occasion Mr. A.S. Dagar Secy. (Agri.) A & N Administration. In his inaugural address he appraised the Ministry of Communications & IT for taking up the initiative to introduce this venture to Andamans and the Department of Agriculture for organizing this training programme.
Mr. Iqbal Hassan, Technical Director, Ministry of Communication & IT, New Delhi briefed about the objective of the system (mFMS).
Mr. Bryn Green Anand, Deputy General Manager, Madras Fertilizer Limited, Chennai, emphasized the need of “mobile based Fertilizer Monitoring System (mFMS) for the Islands.
The mFMS is new technology to provide information visibility up to retailer level and daily stock reporting of fertilizer by companies wholesalers and retailers. It features centralize Web based system with integration of web, Mobile and IVRS based access channels for companies, wholesalers and retailers. This system will also provide location wise details of wholesalers and retailers in the country besides supply chain information on daily fertilizer stock positions as well as daily sales.
Mr. K. Narayanan, the Technical Director & State Informatics Officer (NIC) along with his team of officers, and Technical officers of Agriculture Department as well as licensed fertilizer dealers of this Island actively participated in the programme. The practical session for the trainees was conducted in the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Port Blair.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr. Mantu Biswas, Joint Director (Agri.), Head Quarter.
