Port Blair, July 08: As a result of sustained & painstaking efforts by a team of official led by SI R.K Mazumder, PS Pahargaon recovered a girl who was missing since 30/07/14 from the clutches of kidnapper from Buniyadabad. The police team arrested the kidnapper Sarthak Rao Babras, r/o RGT Road, Port Blair.
On 03/08/2014, a case was registered at PS Pahargaon u/s 365 IPC wherein mother of the victim girl alleged that her daughter had been kidnapped by some un-known person. During investigation, two auto drivers were interrogated and it was revealed that one person Rahul had hired their auto twice and dropped a girl at Chatham.
Technical surveillance was launched and sources were deployed. Meticulous monitoring of locations of accused person mobile phones enabled the police team to get closer. Subsequently the accused person was arrested from “Krishna Continental Cottage” at Buniyadabad. The victim has been handed over to her parents and arrested accused person has been remanded to Judicial Custody. Investigation revealed that the accused Sarthak Rao Babras posed to be an Indian Navy Officer and prevented the girl from contacting her parents.
The antecedents of accused Sarthak Rao Babras is being verified. It has been learnt that he is a notorious criminal who has served a term at Tihar Jail, New Delhi. He is reported to be involved in several other criminal cases of cheating and forgery.
