Port Blair, Aug 01: The stranded inhabitants of Mohanpur and Austin II called on the PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma and narrated their misery that for last many days they have been shifted to Mohanpur school for their safety from the rogue elephant whereas they don’t have another set of clothing to change and they have also left their animals viz cow, goat, bulls etc tied at their respective places without providing food and water, who are their only way and means of livelihood and meant to plough their fields etc and requested for making a way out to get rid of the situation. Accordingly Kuldeep has today spoken to the Chief Secretary Mr Anand Prakash and briefed him of the difficulties being faced by the stranded people of Mohanpur and Austin II. While appreciating the efforts of the AN Administration for providing safe place to the people, Kuldeep has requested the Chief Secretary to consider getting services of the Coast guard for aerial survey which can trace out the position of the elephant when the expert tranquilizer may bring the animal under control and custody. He has stated that due to enforced closure of ATR due to fear of the animal, the Diglpur has become a cutoff area for which the people of the areas are suffering lot. Kuldeep has also requested for finding a way out so that these people may get clothing to change and their tied animals may get food and water. The Chief Secretary has assured to look into the matter.
