Port Blair, July 27: The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Minister of Home Affairs Mr. Rajnath Singh for considering setting up of Women’s Commission in these islands. In his letter Kuldeep has written that to safeguard, promote and protect the rights of the women, women’s commissions have been set up in various States and UTs of India.
Though the women of these islands are being given all possible protection of their rights yet it is very much necessary to set up women’s commission in these islands for allowing better services to the women of these islands for which the Party has already requested the President of India on his visit to these islands on 12th January 2014 and also have taken the issue on earlier occasion. Kuldeep has also recorded his hope in the letter that the home minister will consider early setting up of the commission for safeguarding the interest of the women of these far flung island, cutoff from mainland.
