Port Blair, July 24: The Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lt. Gen (Retd.) A K Singh today said that his next target will be to connect Diglipur Island with chartered flight, similar to the Alliance Air’s flight to Car Nicobar.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha exclusively, Lt. Governor said that for this, he would require the help Andaman and Nicobar Command. He said that a little extension of Shiv Pur airstrip at Diglipur will be necessary for starting the service.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Commander-in- Chief, ANC, Vice Admiral P K Chatterjee said that the extension work of the airstrip will be carried out by ANC.
However when asked about connecting Campbell Bay with similar flight, the Lt. Governor said that the runway at Campbell Bay is too small and the distance of the Island is another factor, as the flight will have to hop, Port Blair, Car Nicobar Islands to reach Campbell Bay.
