A meeting was held on 18-7-2014 in New Delhi with Hon’ble Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari regarding early commencement of two bridges at Middle Strait and Humphry Strait. Hon’ble Minister agreed to lay foundation stone for above two bridges during January 2015. He assured all helps and assistance in betterment of National Highway and also for all round development of these islands. Hon’ble Member of Parliament Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Shri Anand Prakash, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration and Chief Engineer, APWD were present during meeting with Hon’ble Minister.
Earlier to this, a detailed discussion was held with Director General MORTH Shri VL Patankar. Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Chief Secretary and Chief Engineer, APWD participated in meeting. Senior officers of MORTH were present. The Hon’ble Member of Parliament raised the issue of early commencement of construction of bridge and work for first package(0-61 KM). the DG, assured all possible help in this regard. It was also agreed that the Detailed Project Report for National Highway(NH-4) will be for construction of two lane road and DPR finalized at earliest. As informed by DG, all preliminaries regarding construction of two bridges will be completed by August-September 2014 and tender will be invited. In all probability, work on bridges and first package will start during early 2015.
