Port Blair, July 21: A 39 year old construction worker (Head Mistry) namely Babu Lall, a resident of Attampahar, died after falling from a three storey building at Prem Nagar area yesterday.
According to unconfirmed reports, Mr Babu Lall was working on the third floor and suddenly fell on the ground. Till now, no one could confirm the actual reason behind this accident.
Sources added that the contractor tried to settle the matter by giving a compensation of two lakh rupees only to his family members, but the matter was then raised by the member of Attampahar Panchayat to the Member of Parliament. The Panchayat Member demanded more compensation as the workers had died on duty.
Further sources also added that MP had personally visited the spot and heard the grievances of family members of the victim. The MP had reportedly assured the family members all support from his side.
Andaman Sheekha tried both the Aberdeen and Pahargaon Police stations to know details regarding the case but surprisingly no case has been registered in any of these Police Stations, it seems. The dead body of the victim was brought to his home at 2:30 pm yesterday.
