Port Blair, June 17: Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) A K Singh, has condoled the tragic death of a 10 year old boy, Shahid Sarkar, R/o Manglutan. He died when a tree fell on his house on 16.06.2014. The Lt Governor has conveyed his deep shock over the tragic death of Shahid Sarkar and has expressed his deep condolence to the members of the bereaved family. Three others have sustained serious injuries. Lt Governor has directed the Administration to provide necessary relief to the family.
Separately, the Lt Governor has asked the Departments of Revenue, and Forest as well as the PRIs to make sure that prompt action is taken in respect of any tree which poses a danger to life and property. He has appealed to all citizens to be alert, as it is the citizens who have to play a primary role in this regard.
