Port Blair, June 09: PS Hutbay police team have seized five kilograms of ganja and arrested the peddler from Rabindra Nagar, Little Andaman on Friday 6th June.
Developing an information that one Makhan Sarkaris dealing with ganja from his house at Rabindra Nagar, the SDPO (Havelock) formed a police team comprising of SHO A. K. Singh, SI S. Kannan, HC Rajesh Kumar, PC Alok Kumar and HG Amit alongwith the Executive Magistrate Shri Santosh Kr. Mazumdar and independent witnesses, raided the house on 6th June early morning. After serving him notice u/s 50 NDPS Act, Makhan’s house was searched and recovered one plastic carry bag containing 5 kg of illicit ganja. The accused person Makan Sarkar (48) yrs. R/o 19 Rabindra Nagar, Hutbay was arrested on spot. The ganja was duly seized as per the provisions of NDPS Act.
Investigation has revealed that accused Makhan used to source the ganja from mainland West Bengal camouflaged through postal service. The accused has been remanded to police custody. A four-member police team has been sent to Kolkata to apprehend the supplier of ganja and bring him to Port Blair.
