Port Blair, May 29: The Chief Secretary and Ms. Mariyam Bibi, the Adhyaksha of Zilla Parishad, South Andaman visited Bambooflat, Wimberlgunj today to assess the ground position regarding water supply, sanitation and health facilities in the area.
Residents had complained that there was a severe shortage of water supply including drinking water. Even the augmentation of water supply through tankers was inadequate. The Chief Secretary gave directions that the number of tankers supplying drinking water should be doubled immediately and if required increase further to ensure adequate supply till such time sufficient regular piped water can be made available.
The APWD was given instruction that a roaster of water supply should be prepared and given due publicity for the convenience of the residents.
