Port Blair, May 26: As Modi Government has finally started taking shape in the Centre, expectations of Islanders are soaring sky high from Modi Government as well as Bishnu Pada Ray, the lone Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Bishnu, who did surprisingly well in 1999- 2004 tenure in 13th Lok Sabha, struggled a lot in 15th Lok Sabha Tenure as from 2009- 2014 there was UPA Government in the Centre. With hands almost tied, Bishnu was seen only protesting and crying foul in his second tenure as MP.
But as now things are in favour of Bishnu Pada Ray, with BJP in full power, Islanders now expect that atleast now their voice will reach to the Centre.
Bishnu, who accused the UPA government in every occasions for downplaying IDA meetings and not organizing the said meeting in Andaman, will now have to prove his might by organizing the next IDA meeting in Andaman and inviting Modi to these Islands, to chair the meeting.
Islanders will also expect the Member of Parliament to repeat in 1999-2004 magic and bring as many Cabinet and State Ministers as possible to Andaman so that they understand local issues more closely, which will certainly ensure fast development in these Islands.
At least in this tenure, Bishnu can’t give the excuse of not having a supporting government in the centre. Hope Islands’ lone MP will live up to his promises.
