Port Blair, Mar 25: The Principal Secretary, A & N Administration, Mr. Jalaj Shrivastava today urged people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the business community to focus on mini micro water storage system to deal with water scarcity in A & N Islands.
Addressing the Annual General Meeting of ACCI at TSG Emerald View this afternoon, he assured that for promoting micro mini water storage system the Andaman and Nicobar Administration will support people of these Islands in all ways.
Regarding the issue of power supply Mr Jalaj Shrivastava said that 5MW non containerized DG set will be installed in this month.
“I am not blaming SPCL or anyone for this power crisis. In case of breakdown of our own DG sets we would have faced the same problem,” he said.
The Principal Secretary assured that within 15 June 2012, A & N Administration will be having a spare capacity of 15MW power.
“But ultimately we should give more importance to new renewable energy sources,” he added.
He also urged the members of the chamber to form a group of 2 to 3 people for doing “long term planning” of these Islands. He also assured that he will make sure that ANIIDCO joins the ACCI.
Earlier, Mr. G Bhasker, the President of ACCI welcomed the gathering and raised various issues being faced by local business community and general public like shortage of construction materials, power crisis, completion of pending tourism projects, development of tourism and fisheries etc. Later, Mr. A Mehrzad, General Secretary of ACCI proposed vote of thanks.
