Port Blair, May 11: First round of training to Counting Supervisors and Counting Assistants, engaged to assist the Returning Officer, A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency in counting of votes for GE-2014, was held on 09-05-2014 at the Conference Hall of the District Office, South Andaman.
The Counting Supervisors and Assistants were briefed about the arrangements at the Counting Centre, various legal provisions/instructions of the Election Commission of India and the Counting process to be followed.
A demo of the counting of votes and a presentation on the subject was also given. It was informed that the next round of training to the officers shall be held at the same venue on 13-05-2014.
Later on, the Returning Officer, Shri P. Jawahar, IAS, also held a meeting with the officers of various departments at the Conference Hall of the District Office, South Andaman to review the arrangements at Counting Centre at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Port Blair. This was followed by visit to the Counting Centre alongwith concerned officers where various directions on setting up of IT related infrastructure, media centre etc were given by the Returning Officer.
