Port Blair, May 06: A team of Human Rights Organization headed by the General Secretary met the Director of Shipping, A&N Administration, Port Blair to brief the problem being faced by the passengers in MF Samsun ship that plies between Port Blair to Campbell bay. The director was requested to focus on some crucial areas of the ship for the welfare and better service to the passengers. The areas are cleanliness of bunks, cabins, canteen and toilets; Arrangements for issue of ship tickets at Katchal Island, Mill Dera villages and to provide the facility of STAR (Ship ticketing Advance Reservation) for the villagers of Katchal Island at Katchal; Issue of necessary direction to SRO (Special Relief Officer) stationed at Katchal Island to hear the passenger /public grievances on priority basis; Functioning of AC systems at the cabins of ship as well as for proper ventilation at the Bunk and cabin class by providing exhaust /pedestal fan inside the ship; Supply of pure drinking water to all passengers and to provide sufficient water at all lavatories in the ship and Removal of blockage inside the outlet pipe of lavatory room and to make arrangement to stop the leakage of waste water inside the cabin of the ship.
