Port Blair, April 27: Lt. Governor reviewed important issues of Health Department on 26.04.2014 at Raj Niwas wherein Secretary (Health), Secretary (Law), Secretary to Lt. Governor, Director of Health Services, Consultant (Medical College) were present. He expressed his displeasure at the slow pace in commissioning of the proposed Dialysis unit at Dr. RP Hospital, Mayabunder, which caters to the needy patients of North and Middle Andaman. He has now directed the Health Department to co-ordinate with APWD authorities to expedite the works so as to make it ready for inauguration on 25.05.2014.
He also reviewed the progress on the establishment of the Medical College. He reiterated his earlier directions that all the necessary approvals be obtained in a time bound manner so as to start the College by 2015. He has directed the Chief Secretary to monitor and review the progress every two weeks. He also reviewed various directions issued by him in the past and was happy with the actions taken in various matters viz Health Department has provided Ultra Sound Machine to PHC Campbell Bay which has already started functioning; The Operation Theatre of PHC Campbell Bay has been renovated and made ready for the visiting surgeons to perform surgeries; Lab facilities have been extended to PHC Gandhinagar on rotational basis. Regular arrangement will be made after general transfers; ANMs have been provided to Sub Centres at Afra Bay and Makachua from NRHM. Regular arrangement will be made after general transfers and Health Department has issued direction to CHC Nancowry and PHC Teressa to provide single body cold mortuary for transportation of dead bodies.
