Port Blair, Apr 21: The Earth Day will be celebrated by the Forest Extension & Publicity Division of Directorate of Environment & Forests here along with the rest of the country and the world tomorrow (Apr 22). The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Green Cities’.
A number of programmes have been chalked out to mark the occasion. As part of this, seedlings of various plants will be distributed amongst general public and organizations from Forest Nurseries, free of cost. Entry to the Mini Zoo, Haddo & Chidiyatapu Biological Park will be for the public so as to create awareness amongst the visitors about the importance of wild animals and flora in protecting our environment and planet earth.
Besides, nature study tour for 30 students to Chidiyatapu Biological Park and Munda Pahad, quiz and elocution competitions on the topic ‘we and clean cities on mother planet earth’ will also be organized, a communication said.
