Port Blair, Apr 16: The students of Pondicherry University today burnt the effigies of the dean of college development council S Hariharan and officer on special duty (security and vigilance) Booshan Sudhakar to register their protest against two staff members for assaulting an innocent student to force him to admit that he entered girls’ hostel. They demanded immediate suspension of Hariharan, Booshan and two security officers Shyam Satish and Gunaseakaran. Hariharan, Booshan and two others were absconding since cases were registered against them.
According to reports, Hariharan is among some officials who are treating Andaman’s colleges as a colonial possession. It is alleged that these officials of Pondicherry University threaten, bully, blackmail and arm-twist Andaman colleges. This is high time for Andaman & Nicobar Administration to think of establishing Andaman’s own University.
