Dear Editor,
I read with interest your coverage of the unfortunate citizens whose names were deleted from the voters list. Usually, in a democracy, a person is never penalized without affording him/her an opportunity of being heard. Unfortunately, the electoral authorities arbitrarily deleted the names of “ non-serious” or “doubtful” voters . I intend to take these up with the authorities.
I am a great believer in democracy and I know that the authorities, who will definitely do the right thing, even if it is after trying all
other avenues.
I wish just 10 % of the space given to “ hum vote karenge, tum bhi karo” was used to publish a notice asking the deleted voters to show cause why their names should not be deleted before taking such action.
It is not too late. This can be done even now in the interest of democracy.
ETERNAL VIGILANCE IS THE PRICE OF DEMOCRACY
Yours sincerely
