ANC turns crucial in Missing Jet Search

Port Blair, Mar 13: The Andaman and Nicobar Command, the only tri-service joint command, having base in A & N Islands, has deployed ships and aircrafts to search for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane.
The Andaman and Nicobar Command, which was in standby since yesterday, today received ‘Go ahead’ from the Ministry of Defence at around 1000 hrs.
“Navy Dornier DO 228 launcher from Carnic at 1630hr. Search East towards Malacca Strait within Chennai Flight Information Region (FIR). Will search in Kuala Lumpur Flight Information Region on receipt of permission. P81 and C130J likely to arrive Pt Blair 1730 and 2000hr respectively,” Col. Harmeet Singh, the Public Relations Officer of Andaman Nicobar Command told ‘Andaman Sheekha’ today.
The Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777, MH370, with 239 people on board, vanished from air traffic control screens midway between Malaysia’s east coast and Vietnam on last Saturday.
Dozens of countries have already joined hand in the multinational search operation.
