Port Blair, Mar 12: The Port Blair Municipality (PBMC) has embarked on a SWM project in association with ANET and clean City Foundation (CCF) to look at a holistic approach to waste management with the participation and cooperation from all stakeholders. Waste management is an essential task of any eco system, which has important consequences for public health and well-being, the quality and productivity of the urban economy and hence successful implementation of sustainable solid waste management requires cooperation of all stakeholders to practice segregation at source in line with principles of waste hierarchy ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recovery’.
The competition will be held on Mar 16 at Marina Park from 2 pm to 5 pm. “Colour Me” is a painting competition on the Dust Bins, sourced by the Municipality which will be placed in prime locations around Port Blair to sensitize people on waste management. The competition is envisaged to include every citizen, as they are the best ambassador to promote and practice waste management.
The participating in the competition, an individual must have painting background/experience and participants must bring samples/ painting of their work done at the time of registration.
All participants are required to register for the competition at Ambedkar Auditorium, PBMC on 14th &15th March 2014 between 9 am to 5 pm. The participants will also be briefed on the competition at the time of registration.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners and all participants will receive a participatory certificate, a communication received here said.
