Port Blair, Mar 04: Under the instruction of the Member of Parliament, A & N Islands, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District, had cancelled 55 works of MPLAD Scheme and requested the Zilla Parishad to refund the sum of Rs. 2,42,73,416/- being the unspent amount of cancelled works.
Meanwhile, the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman has returned an amount of Rs l, 33, 33, 095/- inclusive of interest of Rs.5, 45,730/- to the DC, South Andaman.
More unspent amounts out of Rs 2,43,73,416 /- were to be released by the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman. In pursuant to that the, DC, South Andaman and the MP both have taken various correspondences since last two years with the Zilla Parishad and requested to refund the remaining unspent amount of MPLAD Fund of Rs 1,14,86,051/-.
In pursuant to that the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman has refund an amount of Rs. 35, 00, 000/- stated to be pending liability of MPLAD fund to the DC, South Andaman vide Cheque Bearing No. 715701 dated 27/02/2014. This achievement is due to utmost efforts of Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament.
Since, the refunded amount is less than claim amount of Rs 1.14 core, the MP vide his letter dated 28.02.2014 has further requested the DC, South Andaman to reconcile the account of MPLAD fund released to Zilla Parishad for comprehensive clarification of the outstanding MPLAD fund of Rs 1, 14, 86, 051/- lying with the Zilla Parishad.
