Port Blair, Mar 02: The rural road from Salvation Army School to R P Singh house at Ward Number 08, Prothrapur, approximately 200 mtrs in length, was constructed by Andaman Public Works Department long back. However the present condition of the said road is very pathetic and the road is in dilapidated condition.
The said road, which gives daily nightmares to residents of the area, needs urgent repairs.
However, instead of solving the problem the Prothrapur Panchayat and the APWD are now playing blame game.
According to the Pradhan of Prothrapur Panchayat, the Panchayat had approached the APWD several times with the request to either repair the said road or to issue NOC to the Gram Panchayat so that the Panchayat can take up the work for the benefit of villagers. But, according to Prothrapur Panchayat, the APWD has neither bothered to maintain the said road nor has issued NOC to the Prothrapur Panchayat.
Meanwhile, in an official letter (no PG/DB/CD-III/PP/2012-13/1604) the EE, CD-III has said that due to site dispute the work was not completed three years back and the road repair was not attended due to the dispute raised by the people who occupied the road.
“However, if the Panchayat is ready to clear the dispute we are ready to take up the work,” he said.
Whatever is the reason but on the ground, general public of the area are suffering a lot due to the bad road. During rainy days the situation becomes further worse. Hope the Pradhan of Prothrapur Panchayat and EE CD-III will surely find a solution and reconstruct the road before this monsoon.
