Port Blair, Feb 23: The Valedictory function for the two-day workshop on “Financial Literacy for Women Students” from 21st to 22nd February 2014 organised by the Department of Home Science, JNRM in collaboration with NABARD, Port Blair was held on 22nd February 2014 in the Auditorium of JNRM. Ms. Mariam Bibi, Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, was the Chief Guest for the workshop. She appreciated the efforts taken by the Homescience Department for organising such a programme. She also suggested that JNRM should organise such event for the rural masses and informed the audience that real empowerment will come once the women are literate in all aspects. The Chief Guest distributed the Certificates to the participants.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Iqbal Ahmad, Principal, JNRM asked to students to take the knowledge gained through the workshop to the people who don’t get an opportunity to know the basic fundamentals of savings and finance. Dr Pooja Kapoor, Lecturer, Home Science welcomed the gathering. Shri K Venkatesan, Assistant Professor & HOD, Dept. of Home Science gave a brief note on the two days programme. Dr Francis Xavier, HOD, Dept. of English congratulated the students for participating programme and advised them to make use of the benefits. Ms Kusum Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Home Science presented the workshop report. Five girl students drawn from various departments gave feedback on the two-day workshop. Dr Lakshmi, Assistant Professor, Dept of Hindi, compeered the entire programme. The programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Smt Nidhi Katiyar, Assistant Professor in Home Science.
