Port Blair, Feb 20: In the chain of programmes for making these isles’ women folks self- reliant and self-sufficient, the Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Union opened yet another centre for tailoring and Fashion Designing Course in the Fishermen’s Colony, Dairy Farm (Word No.8) on 19th February 2014. The opening function for this Tailoring & Fashion Designing Centre was held in the hall of Fish Lending Centre, Dairy farm(Word No.8)- which was graced by Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Chairman, A&N State Cooperative Union as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering the Chief Guest at the very outset expressed his pleasure over the overwhelming response received from the potential beneficiaries inasmuch as 80 (eighty) candidates registered their names for undergoing training in the envisaged tailoring and Fashion Designing Centre. Mr. Sharma said that the A&N State Cooperative Union has a vision to make the women folks of this far flung union territory as a ‘strong power’ so that they may be able to contribute their efforts in development of society as well as Nation-building. That is possible by joining such training centre – where women of different walks of society irrespective of age, caste, creed and religion would join together and learn together. Earlier, Mr. Ghayas Meshack, Vice Chairman, A&N State Cooperative Union welcomed the gatherings.
