Port Blair, February 7: Smt Suneeti Singh, First Lady of these Islands today visited Bethany Children’s Home, Garacharma and met the children of this home. She went around the home and also distributed sweets and gifts to the children and inquired about their well being.
Bishop Varughese Mathew, President of Bethany Children’s Home apprised the First Lady about the activities of this children home. He also highlighted some of the needs of the home like issue of grant-in-aid, provision for drinking water, construction of roads/footpath, provision of solar power and periodic visit of medal team for health check-up of the children.
The children of the home presented a small cultural programme on the occasion. Kumar Rajshekar, a former inmate of the children home shared his experience of growing-up in the children home and completing his graduation degree.
Vegetables produced in the Raj Niwas Agriculture farm were also presented to the home. The Bethany Children’s Home serves as a refuge to 106 deprived, neglected and orphan children of the Islands.
