Port Blair, Jan 29: The A&N Administration is providing the socio-economic and infrastructural supports to the indigenous community of the Great Andamanese. There are 18 Great Andamanese children at present studying in various classes in Port Blair with the financial support of Administration. To nurture their sporting talents, they are provided with sporting gadgets and facilities by AAJVS.
In the 17th state level school games, Master Leepoi student of class 6th participated in Inter School under 16 kho-kho and the team won gold medal. This event was held at Port Blair from 8th to 12th December 2013.
Master Buloba and Booyee, students of class 6, represented Port Blair zone team, for Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya in the President Cup Football Tournament held at Car Ncobar from 16th to 22nd December 2013.
Master Olake studying in the first year Diploma course in Civil Engineering in DBRAIT participated in the open chess tournament held at Port Blair and stood at 3rd position. This tournament was held from 14th to 15th December 2013.
The Chief Secretary, A & N Administration gave away cash incentives @ Rs 2000 (two thousand only) to each of the above four Great Andamanese students’ kumar Leepoi, Buloba, Booyee and Olake, The Chief Secretary lauded the performance in sports and assured all assistance to the Great Andamanese children in education and sports.
The Chief Secretary has directed the AAJVS to provide a Laptop Computer to Master Olake to practice Chess and the required sports gadgets to other students.
