Port Blair, Jan 28: The PBMC today urged all the tourists visiting Gandhi Park to wear life jackets (to be provided by PBMC) which are mandatory for one and all, while on riding paddle boats. “This request is for the safety of the General Public/Tourists and to avoid any untoward incidents,” a press release issued by Mr. K Ganeshan, the Chairperson of PBMC said here today.
If it is mandatory, then why press release. The caretakers should be providing life jackets and supervising that statutory orders are obeyed. In Gandhi park, which has a vast pond, I doubt any Lifeguards are employed and once people takes out the paddle boat, it is not even properly visible for the park authorities.
