Port Blair, Jan 16: The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Superintending Engineer of Electricity Department to allot morning or day shift to the women employees and workers in place of evening shift during the period of school/college examinations.
In his letter Kuldeep has stated that mothers/elder sisters and other such women members are the best friends and guides of the children of the family. They know better about the requirements of the children and are always bother about the future of the children and give special attention on their studies. Hence their presence during the evening hours is very much essential, at least during the period of final examinations of school and College. He has also stated that for the welfare of the school going children, GoI has also allowed special facilities to the women employees.
Accordingly, having come to know that many women employees have been allotted evening shift in the department, Kuldeep has earnestly requested the Electricity department for shifting them to either morning or day shifts as a welfare measure of the children, at least during the period of final examination in case it is not possible to make it a permanent arrangement.
