Port Blair, Jan 16: The XXVth “Road Safety Week” of A&N Traffic Police was inaugurated on Thursday at Fire Brigade Headquarters. Mr. Chinmoy Biswal, IPS, District Superintendent of Police administered the Pledge to police personnel, school children, public citizens, media persons, auto, bus, truck & taxi drivers etc. to “Drive Safe” & observe safe road behavior and highlighted the importance and objectives of observing Road Safety Week. Around 200 persons attended the function.
A lecture on Road Safety was also organised at Govt. Sec. School, Junglighat. Police Band concert was held in the evening at Children’s Traffic Park, Marina Park, which was witnessed by a large number of public.
Several activities have been spread over the week 16th to 22nd January to raise public awareness and consciousness on making roads safer for users and ensuring pedestrian safety. On Friday, Police officers shall deliver lectures and talks at various places on road safety.
