Media Associations to lodge official complaint to President of India ::

Port Blair, Jan 12: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration and Andaman Nicobar Command have totally neglected local media during President of India’s ongoing visit. Only a few local media units, including Andaman Sheekha, were given security pass to attend two programmes of the President while all other local media unit were given pass for only Civic Reception, where anyone with an invitation card had equal access as media persons had and hence that card carried no meaning.
At ANTRI inauguration function those media persons who were given security pass were reportedly had only limited access.
Not only this for the crucial meeting of President of India with tribal leaders of Car Nicobar, no private media person was invited.
During this visit no press meet was also organized perhaps to keep the President in dark about the recent agitation of unemployed youths and other local problems.
Adding to this the Andaman Nicobar Command too did not invite local media persons during the visit of President of India to ANC.
This should be noted that the same ANC had issued NOC for yacht marina at Viper, compromising with the security of these Islands and nation and later cancelled the NOC after Defence Minister’s intervention, perhaps media was not allowed during the visit of President so avoid any question in this regard.
Now several media associations like the Press Club of Port Blair and the Small News Papers’ Association are planning to write a complaint letter to the President of India, Defence Minister, Home Minister, Prime Minister of India in this regard. During a meeting on last Saturday of Small Newspapers’ Association the members of the Associations have decided that together with the letter the media persons will also attach the security cards, which carried no meaning.
