Port Blair, Jan 12: As part of the 37th Coast Guard Day celebrations, Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (A&N) conducted a competitive event ”Tug of War” for fisher folk on 12 Jan 14 at Carbyn’s Cove Beach, Port Blair. The aim of the event was to interact and strengthen bonds of mutual understanding with fishing community, who are the ‘Eyes and Ears’ of Coastal Security.
Coast Guard Ship Bhikhaji Cama organized the event, which received overwhelming response from the fishing community with the participation of 60 fishermen. The fishermen were divided into 04 groups to compete against each other on knock out basis.
On completion of tug of war, Commandant Chandrayan Dey, Commanding Officer, ICGS Bhikhaiji Cama gave away the “Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N) Rolling Trophy” to the winning team and mementos to each member of the winner and runner-up teams. Speaking on the occasion, Commandant Chandrayan Dey thanked all the participants for making the event interesting and successful.
