Port Blair, Jan 09: Hundreds of youths today came out on road demanding domicile. Most of these youths, who are now demanding 100 percent job reservation, were sitting on hunger strike for last five days and alleged that no one from the side of Administration even came to listen to their demands.
Just when the protest began two youths, who were sitting in hunger strike, fainted near Goal Ghar. A few girls also fainted when the protest rally reached Goal Ghar and blocked the traffic.
Youths declared Andaman ‘Bandh’ and demanded written assurance from the side of Lt. Governor and Chief Secretary in this issue.
Besides 100 percent job reservation the youths are demanding to discontinue the practice of accepting online job applications; post of nurses in every school, age relaxation for female candidates till 38 years and male candidates upto 35 years and halting all recruitment drives till the domicile issue comes to an logical end.
Earlier in the evening a delegation of agitating youths also met the Chief Secretary and placed their demands but later they termed the meeting as unfruitful and decided to continue the protest.
Angry youths sat on the Goal Ghar Junction and said that they would continue the protest, even during the visit of President of India, till their demands are fulfilled.
