Port Blair, Jan 09: The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt Governor to fill up the vacant promotional posts of Assistant Engineers in Electricity Department.
In his letter Kuldeep has drawn the kind attention of the Lt Governor that inordinate delay in the filling up of promotional posts of AE is causing despair amongst the eligible Junior Engineers who are waiting for their first promotion even after rendering more than 26 years of service. Kuldeep has further stated that non filling of posts certainly hampers the government work and also diminishes the employment opportunity for the fresh engineers waiting for employment in the scenario where unemployment is the biggest crisis which the islanders are subjected to. Since the Lt Governor being the appointing authority in respect of promotion to the group B gazette post, to which category the post of Assistant Engineers of the Electricity Department belongs, Kuldeep has earnestly requested the Administrator to bestow his personal intervention in the instant matter so that the eight vacant posts of AE gets filled by the deserving junior engineers of the Electricity deptt at the earliest possible there by creating employment opportunity for potential candidates awaiting employment.
