Port Blair, December 31: If you are looking for a place for a dinner with your family and friends or want to host your birthday party, the floating restaurant is a great option. Believe in eating out on the sea and enjoying the cruise trip is an awesome experience for the visitors. In order to give something new and unique to the entertainment famished Islanders as well as the visiting tourists, the Andaman Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation (ANIIDCO) has launched a floating restaurant on board ‘M V Panchavati’. The formal inauguration of the restaurant was done by the First Lady of the Islands, Smt Suneeti Singh on board the cruise vessel here today. The restaurant “AFLOAT” will be opened for the visitors from 4th January 2014 (Saturday). The floating restaurant venture initiated at the instance of the Lt Governor was taken up by ANIIDCO to promote tourism in the Islands and to create added attractions for the tourists.
The floating restaurant has features like air conditioned seating for 35 persons on the first deck and 30 seats for the family and children on the lower deck. The restaurant will operate on all days except Tuesdays. The evening cruise will be available from Phoenix Bay jetty daily from 7.30 pm to 10.00 pm on charges of Rs 800/-per adult and Rs 500/-for children, which is inclusive of dinner. The package includes a two-and half-hour cruise from 07.30 pm from Phoenix Bay Jetty to off-shore Viper Island. To entertain the visitors, a musical orchestra by a Nicobari band named ‘Kuopanam’ meaning ‘Son of the Soil’ will also play on board the cruise vessel besides serving variety of snacks and fixed menu for dinner on board the restaurant.
