Port Blair, December 19: A cleanliness drive, initially for Port Blair Municipal area and its immediate surroundings, will be undertaken from 22 December to 29 December 2013. Lt. Governor has issued necessary instructions in this regard. Andaman & Nicobar Administration and the PBMC will work out a coordinated action plan. A mass awareness campaign is being launched involving students, PRI representatives, and civil society members in this drive.
Port Blair Municipal Council will consider imposing heavy penalties on persons who are found littering or throwing garbage at unauthorized places.
