Port Blair, Dec 13: On 25th of November 2011 Andaman and Nicobar Administration vide a notice had informed that the Common Recruitment Examination for various group ‘C’ vacant posts in PB-1 with grade pay of Rs. 1800 is postponed and is scheduled on 5th of February 2012 (Sunday).
The notice further informed that on 5th of February 2012 another similar examination to fill up the vacancies in the Staff Selection Committee is also scheduled and the candidates intending to appear in both the exams should take up the examination of the FCI and the marks of the paper 1 of the FCI examination will also be considered for the common recruitment examination of Andaman and Nicobar administration.
The results of the FCI recruitment examination were out before the results of the Common Recruitment Examination of the Administration.
On 6th December 2013 the results of the Common Recruitment Examination were out and the candidates who choose to appear in the FCI examination in order to qualify for both the posts were surprised to know that their names were nowhere on the C.R.E merit list even when they secured marks as high as 86% in the FCI examination.
The candidates after both the results are running from pillar to post to get their names also included in the final lists but no one in Administration is able to answer why such a discrepancy in the results were observed. The candidates lost an employment opportunity just because of the false written promises of the administration.
Andaman Sheekha contacted Mr. Suresh Kumar Bhandari , Secretary (Personnel) to know why such an discrepancy with the results has surfaced. Mr. Bhandari informed Andaman Sheekha that the Staff Selection Committee is the one who conducts the examinations and releases the orders in that regard.
He further informed that the order about which the Administration had intimated through a notice on 25th of November 2011 was also passed by the staff selection committee. Mr. Bhandari advised Andaman Sheekha to clarify the matter with the Staff Selection Committee as the administration has nothing to do with it.
The question here arises that when the administration can intimate the candidates about the orders of the staff selection committee why it cannot clarify the matter and get the newly made merit list with name of the candidates from the FCI examination included for the welfare of the candidates.
The Lt. Governor and the top officials of the administration needs to intervene into the matter and get the candidates justice because the administration had informed them about the orders through a official notice and their opportunities cannot be taken away when they are entitled for it.
I have seen the Notice issued by Secretary (Personnel) advising common candidates to appear for FCI exam. A good number of candidates appeared for FCI exam hoping to get consideration for posts under A&N Admin.
If SSC has not kept their promise, it is the responsibility of Secretary (Perl) A&N Administration to remind SSC about the direction issued to the candidates and sort out the issue. They are responsible, they cannot wash their hands off the issue.
