Port Blair, Dec 10: Human Rights Day was observed by Nicobar District Police in 10/12/2013. Citizen Committee meetings were held in all the Police Stations of Nicobar District which were attended by members from Tribal Councils, PRIs & local people. Participants were informed of their legal and human rights by the police officers in the meeting.
Guidelines circulated by NHRC were also discussed. The event saw huge response by the participants as a number of legal queries were put forward b them which were clarified by the officers of the Police Stations. During the meetings, Police Department re-iterated its resolve of Human Rights protection and citizen friendly policing in Nicobar District.
