Port Blair, Dec 06: After Cyclone Phailin and Leher, yet another depression has formed over South West Bay of Bengal centered near Tamil Nadu coast at 0830 hours IST today and according to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) it would intensify further into a Deep Depression during next 24 hours.
Under the influence of this system, rainfall would occur at many places in ANI during next 72 hours. Distant Cautionary Signal No. 1 kept hoisted at Port Blair Port.
However, according to experts that this time Andaman will remain safe as chances of getting another cyclone over Andaman due to this depression is very less.
Meanwhile latest bulletin of IMD issued at 6.30 hrs today said that “It would intensify futher into a deep depression during next 24 hours and subsequently into a cyclonic storm. It would move nearly northwards very slowly during next 48 hours and then recurve north-northeastwards. Rainfall at many places with isolated heavy falls would occur over A & N Islands during next 72 hours,” the bulletin said.
