Port Blair, Oct 10: PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt Governor to declare 14th October, 2013 as Dussehra instead of 13th October, 2013.
In his letter to the Administrator, Kuldeep wrote that as per the holidays list declared Vide AN Administration’s Notification 168/2012, F No: 15-1/2011/GA dt 6thAugust, 2012,under Negotiable Instrument Act,the 13th October, 2013 has been declared as Dussehra.
In this connection, enclosing the copy of Panchang (Hindi Calender) Kuldeep has written that as per star and “tithi” Vijaya Dashami (Dussehra) falls on 14th October, 2013.
Kuldeep has further submitted that many of Government Employees perform Navaratri fasting which has started on 5th October, 2013 and ends on 13th October, 2013(Maha Navami) as per the HINDU Panchang and after nine days of fasting, the devotees need to celebrate the Dusserah on 14th October, 2013 as per the Panchang and hence requested to confer his powers to declare the 14th October, 2013 as Public Holiday in place of 13th October, 2013 as has already been declared.
