Port Blair, Oct 09: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration is planning to rescue 19 fishermen who are stranded at Japan Tickery, Digipur due to cyclonic weather . Today rescue operation could not be started due to bad weather. As the fishermen are carrying ration for three days the operation will now start tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, Ms. Punya Salila Srivastava, IAS, Secretary of Disaster Management & Relief and Rehabilitation today told Andaman Sheekha “We have taken up the matter with coast guard. Weather permitting, they will be rescuing them tomorrow,”
UPDATE: “Update on Japan Tikry issue from DC N&MA: as informed by their fellow fishermen returned from there – total seven remained on Gol Tikry (near east island) with food supply. They are safe and will and can come by themselves as and when weather improves. No specialised operation for them is required. We will bring them to safe place,” Punya Salila Srivastava, IAS, Secretary of Disaster Management & Relief and Rehabilitation to Andaman Sheekha this morning.
