Port Blair, Oct 06: The Lt Governor, Lt General (Retd) A.K. Singh, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, has said that the future of the country depends on the strength of our youth as they are the ones who will take the country to greater heights. The Lt Governor was speaking as the chief guest at the valedictory function of the 5-day Rotary Youth Club Leadership Award (RYLA) camp-2013, held in the Conference Hall of DBRAIT, Dollygunj here yesterday. He gave away trophies and awards to some of the outstanding participants, who excelled in the camp.
In his speech on the occasion, the Lt Governor complimented the Rotary club of Port Blair for organizing the camp aimed at promoting brotherhood and helps develop leadership qualities among the youth. He observed that in order to make our youth into good citizens of the country, it is imperative that qualities such as leadership skills, team spirit, decision making and communication skills should be developed in our youth. This can be done by providing them opportunities to participate in such youth camps, where they can sharpen their talents and learn through interaction, he observed.
About 49 students from different parts of the country came together to participate in the camp and become leaders and most importantly, develop friendship. Participants and the Camp Commander also shared their experiences during the camp on the occasion. The function concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Mohd. Jadwet, Ex-Rotarian.
