Port Blair, Mar 09: The Chairman and Managing Director of Union Bank of India, M V Nair said the Union Bank of India expands its services for the islanders and extends its fullest support for the economic development of these islands. Inaugurating the new modern premises of Port Blair Branch and the ATM this morning, he said the bank will support the business ventures in the core sectors, especially fisheries and tourism. He further said the islands has lot of potentials for the development of I T industry and the bank will concentrate on supporting the IT projects once the broad band connectivity with required bandwidth is made available in the islands.
He revealed that the Union Bank of India develops its services as ‘Experience banking’ to make the customers fully satisfied with its wide range of services, such as internet banking, phone banking, multifaceted ATMs and self service facilities in branches. He added that soon the customers of Port Blair branch will get the self service facilities and need not approach the staff for all their needs; they can update their pass book entries and get the acknowledgement for deposited cheques through the machines installed there on their own.
Briefing on the country wide expansion plan, M V Nair stated that the bank has planned to open 400 new branches every year to expand its services across the length and breadth of the country. He informed that the bank already opened 3300 ATMs all over the country and planned to add 1000 ATMs every year to make its services reach the door steps of the people.
The General Manager of South Zone, S K Bhargava also spoke. Speaking on the occasion, the branch Manager, S Rajan informed that the Union Bank of India has the pride of being the only bank in the country inaugurated by our nation’s father Mahatma Gandhi.
