Port Blair, Sept 25: This is for the information of the general public residing in South Andaman district including Neil and Havelock Islands that fortified wheat flour/atta is being distributed to the ration card holders under Public Distribution System to the extent of 50 per cent of their monthly entitlement of wheat. The packed fortified wheat flour/atta is being supplied in one kg, two kg or five kg packets at the rates fixed by the Administration. The remaining 50 per cent of PDS wheat can be lifted by the card holders as wheat whole. As such the ration card holders can lift 50 per cent of fortified wheat flour/atta and remaining 50 percent as wheat whole as per their entitlement.
The category-wise maximum retail price per kg fixed by the Administration is Rs. 15.00 for Above poverty line (APL), Rs. 12.40 for Below poverty line (BPL) and Rs. 10.35 for Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY).
Shri Som Naidu, Director (CS&CA) appealed to the ration card holders that any complaint in this regard such as non-receipt of PDS fortified wheat flour/atta, sub-standard quality, excess charging etc. may be made in writing to the Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and can also complain over toll free phone number 1967.
Presently the issue of fortified wheat flour/atta is covered only in South Andaman Island and Havelock and Neil Island.
