Port Blair, Sep 20: The ten days long activities of the combined NCC cadets ended with traditional camp fire at the Mayabunder Zilla Parishad community hall.
The IG VSR Murthy, Commandant Coastguard region A & N lit the camp fire. The traditional folksongs, the dances of Nicobar, Jharkhand and other parts of India presented by the boys and girls took the audience to mini unified India on stage. Many musical skits on general awareness of the society were also presented. The Jarawa tribal dance put up by the SD naval cadets of Mayabuder College was spectacular and took the audience by surprise. The Chief guest presented the awards and trophies to boys & girls cadets. The award of best JD cadet was bagged by Mr. Vikram Rai of GBSSS Middle Point, SW Cadet was bagged by Miss. Sonee Kumari of JNRM Port Blair Naval wing and the best SD cadet was won by Mr. Surendra Kumar of MG College Mayabunder and the over all trophy was won by MG college Mayabunder.
Mrs. Madhuri Giri, Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad Mayabunder also graced the occasion. The Commanding Officer explained the course of the camp and the logistic challenges faced for conducting the camp at Mayabunder. Inspite of bad weather, breaking down of two vehicle and replacement of cooks for improving the quality of food, the camp could achieve its aim within the time frame. He also thanked support extended by the district admin headed by Mr. Sanjay Kumar IAS DC Mayabunder, the CINCAN and also the Commander Coast Guard Region for making the camp a success.
Speaking of the occasion the IG recalled his nostalgia of being a NCC Cadet both at school and college level and imbedded the cadets on the benefits of being the NCC cadets during the growing stage. He also urged the cadets to not only learn good messages themselves but also take the responsibilities to spread them where ever they go so that a larger community gets benefitted.
